Website "Green Academ" is produced by an initiative group "Protect town-forest of Academgorodok" assosiating citizens of Novosibirsk, Russia.

Akademgorodok is a district of the City of Novosibirsk and is located 25 km to the south from the downtown on the right bank of the Ob River. The area occupied by Akademgorodok is 1370 ha, of which 350 ha are covered with pine forest and pine–birch mixed wood.

Our main concern consists in preserving of forest area in Academgorodok and it’s environs.

Today the policy of City administration constitutes a menace to existence of forest area where Novosibirsk scientific center is situated. A construction of industrial, administrative and entertaining complexes together with housing estates is intended to be realized on the forest area of nearly 130 ha.

Citizents of Novosibirsk have already initiated cases against the City administration of Novosibirsk concerning legitimateness of regulations, licences, deforest admissions or other documents.

We do not consider and will never believe that the practice of cutting down city forests and construction of administrative or industrial complexes which presented as projects of great importance is a town-planning concept of Novosibirsk.

We appeal to people all over the world, Russian compatriots abroad, international organisations dealing with ecological problems and hope to obtain support in the activity for world environmental safety.
